History

1972:  Shand Engineering Ltd came into existence as a fabrication and machining contractor based at the current Stallingborough site serving the local oil refineries and manufacturing Built-In hose couplings for Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd. Shortly after this time, Shand developed a range of Swaged hose couplings and swaging machines for reinforced rubber hose.

1989: Shand Engineering was acquired by the privately owned South African Industrial Management Group, Sturrock & Robson Industries

1997: The current management team came together with the appointment of Brian Purchon, Managing Director and Andy Heaton,Technical Director joining David Robinson, Commercial Director.

1998:  Shand started to work with an increasing number of international hose manufacturers and distributors.

2000: Shand developed and perfected the concept of dual swaging during a programme of work with Wellstream International, to develop high pressure swaged couplings suitable for attaching to Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe.

2004:  Wellstream International launch Flexsteel® utilising Dual Swaged couplings. Also in 2004, Shand Swaged Couplings are launched in the Asia-Pacific Region through sister company Flow-Tech Systems.

2005: Winner, RBS International Trade Award, Hull & Humberside Chamber of Commerce

2006: Winner, Exporter of the Year, South Humberside Export Association

2007: Finalist, Exporter of the Year, Best of British Industry Awards

2008: Winner, Economic Investment Award, Hull & Humberside Chamber of Commerce

2009: Recipient of The Queen's Award for Enterprise, International Trade

2009: Winner International Trade Award, Yorkshire & Humberside, Interntional Trade Magazine
